Differences
Walking down the street
Looking at the world
People pass me by
Without saying a word
My name is Alyssa
I am a twelve year old girl
Every day is a discovery
In this really big world
I hear in the news
How people dislike each other
Due to skin color
In my school it is no better
Talking about others
Saying cruel things about them
My friend Ciara she is the best
Even knowing we are different
This makes us even better friends
Discovering new things about ourselves
One day a big bully walks up to us
And starts to insult us
He made jokes about our friendship
And even worse about my friend
Desperation filled my body
Without nothing to say
I felt like I was trapped
In a cage and anything I’d say
Would not mean a thing
I started shaking with anger
And at last I exploded
The bully heard all my
Very strong words
They seemed to make him understand
We never saw him again
My words were magic
My friend would say
It’s good to say what you think
Saying it in a good way
Don’t scream or yell
But be gentle and kind
That way the person you talk to
Has a better chance to understand you
