Elegy for Chairman Mao
An entire nation weeps,
Their glorious leader is gone,
Who will they look to?
How will they survive?
Unification, Economy, Education, Equality
This is what he stood for
No more war, no more poverty
Dignity and self-respect
Overthrowing the backwards and corrupt
Leading a country to modernity;
Educating the poor, giving rights to women
Let a hundred flowers bloom
Strategist and Mastermind, savior of the nation
Even though the Great leader has left,
His legacy remains
Chairman Mao will be forever remembered
