Paradoxes
“You’ve caught my attention!”
Wow. So flattering.
“Freedom to reach for your goals.”
Okay.
“Alumni who shape the world.”
Really.?
Thousands of carefully selected,
uninspired phrases consuming
my thoughts
my space
creating a stench of prearrangement.
I don’t want to know
but I do.
I want to achieve
but I don’t.
That mound of decisions staring me in the face
They’re selling futures and I’ve got the key.
School colors in every shade;
Royal blue with a hint of white
Or blood red soaked in black.
Maybe a valiant burgundy teaming with gold
Does that matter?
Does anything matter?
Yes, I know it does.
I don’t care.
But, you know I do.
