Between the Broken Bits of Earth
Louis Armstrong was right
 when the words floated
 off his lips
 "What a wonderful world"
 but they fell on the
 hearts of cynics.

 It is a marvelous planet
 we've got, only mankind
 holds the guilt of tainting
 it with sins, and breaking
it with the weight of our
 iniquity.

 But between the crushed
 up bits there remain
 windchimes that crafted
 such sweet music despite
 the force of the wind
 and the ocean foam that
 brushed my legs
 between the broken bits
 of the earth there is
 still everything that ever
 made it wonderful.

 Just remember: The birds
 will sing with or without
 you.
