What Could Have Been
A woman in a white gown
Comes running from the church
The front door slams shut
A man in a suit running out
Trying to find the runaway woman
Was she scared?
Was it too much for her?
No one will ever know what could have been
On that fateful day of their wedding
The groom went back inside
Told the crowd the bad news of the runaway bride
The crowd went home but the groom stayed
He sat at the church waiting for her to return
He sat there for three hours
She never came back.
She ran as fast and far as she could
She arrived in the forest then collapsed
She cried in realization of what she had done
She had broke a man’s heart never to be repaired
Who can ever know what would have been had the runaway woman stayed.
