Thump!

A thud sounded as the large beast fell from the tree.

At first only one, a few seconds later there was second, a third, a fourth.

Together they crouched as if they are synchronized.

A few steps forward then a peek a few more and a second look.

Thats when they see it.

Two monsters, who are fighting for territory.

The massive animal swings its tusks and hits another with its trunk.

They Fight.

The one who lost runs, injured, a deep gash on its side.

The beasts pause, they begin to creep.

Slowly, like a child savoring a lollypop,

and then faster and faster until the pack is sprinting.

The injured one oblivious to the fact that they are coming.

They leap onto the injured animal and fight for a few moments.

One of the beasts scrambles on top of the head and lunges for the neck.

It gets hit off and runs.

The three beasts continue to attack.

A bite, a scratch, and a lunge.

cornered the animal has nowhere to go.

It tries to flee but,

The animal goes limp.

The people in the vehicle are awed as they see the magnificent lions kill the elephant.

“And thats how a lion kills its prey, the circle of life” says the guide. “It’s okay, the elephants life wasn’t worth much anyway.”
