The Color Red
it is the tint of your pulse
as you walk up to him
on the very first day.
it is the shade of your heart
that night while you think of him
tirelessly,
praying that he’s doing the same.
it is the color
of the lip stain
you left on his cheek.
it is the hue of your heart
beating tirelessly
whenever he’s around.
it is the color of the thoughts
that consume your mind
the day when he finally, finally whispers,
“i love you.”
it is the bleeding shade of rage
that pours out of you
when you see him with her.
it is the color of your shattered heart.
it is the feeling
you never felt again.
