I cannot wait anymore. To leave this place, to fill this empty void I've been searching for, for ever so long. My heart is filled with the darkness but my mind is floating and lovely. How does one go about searching for themselves? Searching for a reflection, searching for a key, the hardest part throughout this all is realizing that I will be the death of me.

I wrote this piece as an opening line for a character from a play that I am writing. In fact, this poem is the first thing the character says.
