Summer Sounds
As children anticipate summer
The sounds of whispers, excitement, and grumbling
Are known.
A child who quietly whispers
About how his dad is coming to visit
Says to another
My dad finally said he is coming.
A child who is filled with excitement
Bubbly in giggles as the thoughts of
Pranks, ice cream, and camping swarm the brain
Says to another
My summer will be the BEST!
The child who grumbles
Thinks of the never ending tirade of family outings, long car rides, and the Despicable neighbors who complain about music being too loud
Says to another
I wish school never ended…
This is the anticipation of summer.
