"What is better - to be born good, or to overcome your evil nature through great effort?"

Low moans,
pain whistling through gritted teeth,
the sound of a monitor slowly faltering.

Silent tears,
staining the sheets,
mournful visitors gathered around the bedside.

Dry mouth,
with a faint taste of blood,
a mixture that brings unpleasantness.

Stench of morphine,
perspiration on rushing figures,
mingle together in a flurry of chaos.

Cold flesh,
life lines coming to a halt,
can this truly be the end?

The author's comments:
Last year, my English teacher wanted us to write a poem that involved all five senses. She said it could involve any topic, and I chose Death simply because it is easy for me to convey my ideas on what Death is like for any of the senses. As cliche as this topic is, I enjoy writing about it. This is obviously very short, but it was supposed to be. this was a fun piece to write though and I hope others can enjoy it.
