Fly into the heavens
Fly into the heavens
A streak of fear that courses through me. Winds
Of the moonless night move the branches of the trees.
Creatures watching me in the darkness of the woods.
Fog all throughout the night.
Footsteps crunching dead leaves in the woods. Eyes
of the unknown stare as I walk the foggy graveyard
passing headstone by headstone, not knowing what awaits for me.
I see the tears in the dead’s eyes.
They sleep with no mercy in the ground.
Souls resting peacefully.
The dead will never walk again.
Roses with their thorns still attached.
One angel white and one bloody red rose.
I carry them, tears in my eyes, to a tombstone,
Hoping to fly into the heavens and the skies.
