Letters To You
Letters to You
As I sit alone
I think of you, me, and us
all the good all the bad
No one thought
we would ever last
but we stood the test of time
All our memories together,
our wedding, our vows,
our kids
As the years go by
I grew old
you grew sick
I couldn’t see you in pain
I was with you when you said
with you last breath
“I love you”
I keep those words
close to me
and my heart
When I feel alone
I walk to where you rest
I know your still here
I tell you my thoughts
my sadness
even my happiness
On your birthday
I post the letters that I write to you
on red balloons
When they float in the air
they go to find you
up there in the heavens
I go to sleep wondering
will I see you next to me
wondering if it’s all a bad dream
As I drift in silence and peace
I know you see them
I know you read them
It brings a smile to your face
these words I write to you
the letters I write to you
