Waves
The waves crash on shore slowly,
As if with caution.
Waiting for the perfect time,
To, enclose you.
Pulling you down slowly.
As if not to, startle you.
Leaving you gently on the soft sand,
That forms to your body.
As if it has waited for you.
You push away for a breath,
It seems to want you more.
You reach the surface it starts again.
The waves surround you,
As if they were long lost friends.
Covering your body,
As you float over the waves.
Waiting for the next one that pulls you under,
It greets you with open arms.
You take a breath and give into the water rushing over you.
Pulling you back,
Onto the ocean floor.
Enclosing your body in its cool waters,
Between your toes,
Swimming through your hair,
Once again you come up for a breath.
When you reach the surface it all seems to change.
The waves that once held you close,
Try to pull you back under.
This time with force,
Before it can, you reach the shore.
The water will calm,
Then wait again.
Wait for you to step into their waters,
For you to take a breath.
They will wait for you to stay,
On the sandy ocean floor.
