The Soldiers that Come Back Home Safely

are different from the ones
who come back injured, or the many

that will never make it back home-
lost in the scorching and

blistering desert sand, they
are far from civilization.

Hoping that the soldiers will
return back safely to their homes

their families wait and wait for them,
just to hear if they are well,

but they wander. Knowing that
danger lurks, they grip their guns

ready for what might come,
they linger and listen to the

sounds of the blades cut through the thick dry heat,
the sand began to swirl.

A chopper comes into sight.
Finally they will be home.
