The Ghost

The darkness swallows me up
I am but a ghost
Wandering the hallways of society
Warm golden light pours from the windows beside me
Just beyond the glass a family dines
All surrounded by a glorious feast

The next window is dark except for a small light
Projecting tiny stars around the room
A child lays in slumber
Comforted under the warmth of his blanket

I enter through a grand door
The light chirp of tree frogs surrounds me
I continue on
I am but a ghost
Wandering the hallways of a greater being
There I met the wisest of men
Sleeping under the blanket of stars above him
Part of me wanted to stay
But the journey was not complete

Coming out the other side
Again a ghost
Wandering the hallways of society
Cars beginning to start
The low hum of the engines
As the sun slowly begins to make its daily journey
Traveling so far, but always ending up back at the beginning
