In Time
Time –
In time he was conceived
In time he was 4, walking and talking
All about the house he moved
In time he was 7; a small yet capable human in a huge world
In time he was 10, a decade passed though much still to learn
In time he was 12, almost a teen but so far from adulthood
In time he was 15, mature for his age, popular, smart.. my son
In time he was the big 18, an adult
So much to look forward too
So much to come..
Prom, summer, friends, lovers
So he still grew and them came 20, college and friends – a man high on life
But at 21 a tumor
Sickness, pain, cancer, my son…
I watched suffer
Hopeless, helpless, devastated
In time there was no 22
A funeral, some tears, some hugs
Then came in time 23, 24, 25
Memories, sadness
But in time there was 50
A smile.
In time all can be healed.
