Circus of the Mind
standing in the darkness
nothing but a dim light to be seen
a punch hits and I fall back and rest
fiery lights, bright colors, and lions roar
metal bars all around seem to hover
clowns with sad faces first dance
flying through the air
an arm reaches out, catching before the fall
hearts are thumping, rushing full of fear
golden bars fall from the sky
trapped like an animal, I cover my face and hide
the ground falls out into white
freefalling with nothing to grab onto
a girl with red hair is here
a smile, and then I can’t see her
jumping through the ring of fire
darkness reaches out and takes
I don’t ever want to leave here
