High School of the...New World Order.
I've been working since 6
On parental relationships and self esteem
The ones who call me privileged
Aren't wrong, but they judge me
From waters that are only colored deep...
With makeup, and this season's H & M
Girls look at me funny
Because I don't chase after men
They wonder why when I walk into the room,
They can a feel a calm
A still, solid breeze
That cannot be bought or mimicked with ease
But they don't know
That what is permanent
Is not skin deep
It does not come by flirtatious glances
And expecting a free cheat
The ones who have the most
Rarely sit on golden seats..
Does this mean there is more to life
Than looking pretty?
And people look at us strange
Because we can still smile when there is rain
People look at us funny
Because in the subtle madness we pray
I've been working since 6
On parental relationships and self esteem
Always wondering if I was the ugly child
Or if the problem was that no one bothered ever listening
I don't have straight hair, the cutest tees
Or that new watch you've been flaunting
But I am woman and there is something I know that you might need...
In struggle there is no greater look than a man who let's his soul sing.
