I truly like the...
I truly like the way you
Turn this mud into water
And this water into wine
And this wine into oil
And this oil into mud
This is the way you make things change
And in this manner your hands find play.
So when we go out in the rain
You mean to make me drunk?
And when I go to dip my bread
You mean to ruin my chunk?
But when you spray me with the hose
Then are you blessing me?
I truly like the way you
Turn this coldness into heat
And the darkness into light
And the summer into winter
And this day into night
This is the way you make things flip
And in this manner your grin is quick.
So when I go to take a sip
You mean to burn my tongue?
And when I go to ride my sled,
You raise the melting sun?
But when there’s no end to my sight
You open up the night?
I truly like the way you
Twist eyeballs into marbles
And arms into stubs
And legs into wheels
And mouths into none.
This is the way you grab the brain
And in this manner, you force decay.
So when you whisper in my ear,
Are all your words just rot?
And when you go to close my eyes
Its so I will be lost?
And when you grab me by the arm
That’s when you click the lock.
But, my dear, there is one thing
You’ll never get to touch:
Blood, I fear, my thick red blood,
Of which my heart’s made up.
But, my dear, I must tell you,
I do control two things:
My precious blood, but look I hold
Your heart upon a string.
