The Girl I love
You are the veins to my heart,
The skin to my body,
You are the star of my nights,
And the sun of my mornings,
You are the pillow that makes me fall asleep,
And the birds that wake me up in the mornings.
However you are not the girl in my life,
The wife in my house,
Or the girl I stop thinking about.
And you are certainly not the girl I want to stay away from.
There is just no way you are the enemy in my life.
It is possible that you are my life,
Maybe even the only thing that I care about.
But you are not even close
To being the reason I die.
And a quick look in the mirror will show
That you are neither a monkey,
Nor a whale.
It might interest you to know,
Speaking of plentiful imagery of the world,
That I am your Prince Charming
I also happen to be the soap for your shower,
The shampoo for your hair,
And the avocado for your face,
I make you feel beautiful.
I am also the bee that takes pollen out of a flower,
But instead I take the sadness out of you.
But don’t worry, I’m not the casket for your body,
And the hammer who breaks a heart,
But you are still the light for my eyes,
And the roots for my tree,
You will always be the girl I tell my kids about,
And the girl who kept me going to school every day.
