Daddy Dearest
Daddy dearest
So loving and kind
I always looked up to you
Figuratively and literally
We looked like twins
As some would say
our blonde hair
And blue eyes alike
My days spent with you
Were always the best
The warmth of your hugs
Comforting as a child
Your musky scent laced with cigarette smoke
Wasn't one I could forget
You protected me like a lion and its cub from the danger it got in
You were there to cheer me up
Laughter and smiles enjoyed for quite awhile
But then you slipped up
And you changed your ways
No more mister nice guy
All seriousness and no play
I still remember the day
You came home and spewed your lies
Your breath covered in whiskey
And you revealed your true self
Then you ran away
What happened to daddy dearest?
The one I was so fond of
He is no longer there
Inside your hollow soul
You try to go back
But you can't ever fix the cracks within the broken glass
