Monster, Monster
Max and I play with the monsters,
Hiding beneath our beds.
They run and jump--hurry, hurry!
--To slither into our heads.
The monsters cause such a mess,
Screaming holes out through my brain.
They play with my mind and tempt me;
"Just ignore the pain!"
Max only screams but I like to cut,
Watch my insides turning out.
The best thing yet is JUST DON'T EAT.
That's what starvation's all about.
Poor Max-y's sad cause his family doesn't love him,
But mine love me a lot.
It's just all the other things life is,
That I wish it were not.
So while the Wild Things run their course,
I lay there, blanketed by black.
They tell me "Come and play with us!
There is no turning back!"
And the monsters have taken hold of me;
Marked me as their friend.
But without a change... unless I DIE...
I can't get rid of them.
