Possess: have as belonging to one
this air that i breathe
 isn’t mine

 and i can’t reach out
 to touch your hand
for it isn’t mine to hold

i can’t pick up the shattered pieces
i’ve seen lying on the floor
with its fragments swept up into corners
 gathering dust and feeling want
because you aren’t mine to fix

and in this sea of all that is not mine
all i can see is what’s
 hers
 hers
 hers
