Colors
The world appears in colors.
The sight of a songbird brought indigo to my eye,
But the sight of a chicken signaled a drab brown.
I see a transition from beige to lavender as new life appears in spring.
Life to death in one season spins the whole color wheel.
Long ago when I drowned in daydreams of rich amber,
It brought me to my golden pathway of possibilities.
Time an time again I was plunged back down to that quadratic formula that jolted me into a black hole of defeat
with just one glimpse.
The day my heart was chipped,
I drowned in a charcoal gray and looked up to see my golden pathway covered in a film of dust and disappointment.
Next season I will wake up a fresh new cream,
Ready to spin the color wheel once again.
