Smoke fills the lungs of lost children.
Alone they walk,
lost in a world of lonely souls.
Searching for the warmth of love
but having no where to turn.
Growing up without somewhere to call home.
Fighting for their lives as they starve.
As they walk, rain falls upon their heads,
but they refuse to drown.
Clenched fists push back their hopeless tears,
as their parents walk away.
Broken hearted, lost children, slip away.
Society bullies for "beauty",
but children watch themselves starve to fit "beauty".
The words you speak as you push them away,
also cut their wrists.
The children are lost and growing without love,
but they fight to not show their fear.
Inside we are lost and scared.
Because of you...
We walk alone.

The author's comments:
This poem is written towards the fact of fitting into the view of what others want you to be. It also explains the loss of care from out mother and fathers. It shows how we struggle and fight to prove we are strong and can be what they want us to be, although knowing they will never accept us for whom we truly are.
