An Orange Out of an Apple Tree

All my life, I've been judged.
Everyone thinks I deserve to pay.
I hate it when they say:
the apple doesn't fall far from the tree.
I hate the way they look at me.

You're the child of a killer.
I can't lie and say I'm not.
Just when I think maybe they forgot,
My house lays in ruins.
Dad, look at the hate you drew in.

I couldn't bear it if he looked at me the way they all do.
He says don't be so hard on yourself, I know you're not him.
And I'm sorry, your life must feel very dim.
I'll see you later.
Hopefully, you see I'm not a hater.

I'll admit, he made me feel better.
But I still have nightmares every night.
I'm no closer to winning this fight.
We can't choose where we come from.
Where was luck when I needed some?

He says, I don't think you're an apple, your an orange.
You came from the same tree, but you weren't born an apple.
Show them, leave them a sample.
I believe in you.
I bet they don't have clue.
