Favorite Quote:
"There is more to living than being alive."

Lips shut tight
Arms in close
Eyes screaming a thousand words

I am ignored
shut out,
beaten down,
cruelly crestfallen,
But I am strong
Not physically
Not in any way anyone can see
But I am strong

I carry balloons with me
Filled with my fears, worries,
and my dreams
My dreams that carry me on shining moonbeams
Away from the Darkness

I am stuck in a din of silence
Silence so loud it is quiet
So big that its faded at the edges
And I see my escape

And I scream
Scream raggedly
into the silence
into the nothingness
that holds me back

And I learn

How to let go

The author's comments:
I was inspired to write this because of many reasons, but mostly because so few people understand what sadness is. I chose to represent this person's fears and worries in the form of balloons, an icon associated with happiness and joy, because it's supposed to convey that this person is collecting these things that show them their fears, and they end up forgetting which ones are their dreams. I want people to realize that if we collect our fears and worries, we may lose our dreams as well, and we need to learn how to let go, and start fresh. The last stanza, Which talks of screaming "into the silence
into the nothingness
that holds me back"
is sort of an image to convey arguing, screaming into silence, which represents your conscience, and also into, or at, the "nothingness that holds me back" which is kind of an empty fear, if you will. It's like this person has so consumed themselves with their worries and fears, even though nothing is holding them back from their dreams, but that's how they conceive their predicament.
