Changes
Every year I turn a year older,
One step closer to a man.
I’ll never forget the day I was created,
 My parents believed I can.
When I was in my cradle,
And my mother kissed me goodnight.
I knew form back then I would be different,
But look at all the changes that got me to the next level.

 When I was a boy,
 I was happy every day.
 From blankies and bibs,
 To superheroes and videogames.
Then something struck me in the face,
 I knew it wouldn’t last.
Sometimes the bad guy got the good guy,
But look at all the changes that got me to the next level.

 I was then fifteen,
 And a clueless, confused adolescent.
I still had much to live for,
But in a home of frowns and shouts.
 Those little toys vanished,
And turned into homecoming dates and a dozen red roses.
The shouts began to fade but the frowns are still there,
But look at all the changes that got me to the next level.

 Take a look now,
From booster chair, to mama’s little boy, to crazy teen, to big boy.
 I have seen a ton,
 But still much to learn.
I can kiss my old days goodbye,
But I can still kiss my parents.
I am out of their hold,
But look at all the changes that got me to the next level.

Now I sit in my rocking chair,
A happy old geezer in a home.
As I look back at what I’ve done,
 I’m a father and a grand one.
I know my time is winding down,
 I end with a bam.
 I can go in peace,
And look at all the changes that got me to where I am.
