Step up!
Starry skies lost to young eyes
Never seen past the embrace of smog
Blanketed by the smoky fumes of burnt log
Ancient trees felled by metal’s slice
Tomorrow seen as plenty a writing device
Everything is powered
By the effects of manmade towers
By uranium, by coal
When others are proven to achieve the same goal
Still used by the greedy blind
Who choose not to see or mind
Air, blessed gift of life
Is now poisonous chemicals’ wife
Thank the ignorant deaf
Who choose to drive, creating reapers of death
Water is a gift to preserve
Yet abused; exploited without reserve
Men made rich with gold and distinction
Created their treasures through extinction
What are we but the ones to blame
Step up!
