Do you remember?
The clear water,
moldy rocks.
You held me, as I learned.
My hands and feet flopping like a fish,
but you didn't give up.
Not until I swam freely,
the way you swan too.
Do you?

Do you remember?
The breezy nights,
sitting in the balcony,
talking.
Everyone dreaming,
but you told me your love story.
The one of how you met her,
and how much I seem to be like her.
Do you?
Do you remember?
All the kids running around,
arguing over who was "it".
Others crying,
they didn't want to stay.
No kid wants to stay in first grade.
Me, clung to your arm.
When you would leave,
I wanted it to be time to go home.
Time for you to pick me up,
time for you to help me with my homework.
Do you?

Do you remember?
The day mom told you we were moving.
She told you we would be four hours away,
in a plane, that is.
Salty tears dropped down our eyes.
We hugged, shaking,
not wanting to let go.
Do you?

Do you remember?
The last time I heard your voice,
It was hard for you to talk.
You whispered in the phone,
telling me to never forget the little moments.
It was time for you to go.
Time for you to rest.
Do you?

Do you remember?
Do you?--I do.
I promised I would never forget.
I remember everything.
Everything, grand pop.
Do you?
