Ode to a Day in the City
Street lights.
red,
yellow,
and green.
Yellow taxis,
occupied by innocent tourists,
moving all over
the Big Apple.
From downtown,
to uptown,
to midtown,
to everywhere.
Restaurants that fill every block:
Italian,
Chinese,
Mexican,
Greek.
We stroll down
5th avenue,
eyeing every designer store there.
Louis Vuitton,
Oscar de la Renta,
Tory Burch,
Juicy Couture.
I leave every store,
holding a new shopping bag,
each filled with high end merchandise.
The crimson blouse,
the glitter clutch,
and the six inch black stilettos.
Nothing can beat,
spending a day,
in the city that never sleeps.
