A Day with Holden Claufield
You remind me of someone I once knew
 But not very well
As you lean casually against the museum’s brick façade,
A smoldering cigarette perched between your stubbly lips.
I am sure you are aware that smoking will kill you
Which is probably why you do it.
Your tie is an unruly mess of red silk
Sagging around your neck like a noose waiting to be tightened by the plunge.
Were you horsing around with that girl again?
You glance at a little boy darting across the street
Who reminds you of your brother.
And I know what you’re thinking
Because I’m thinking the same thing.
Let me catch you before you fall.
God, wouldn’t old J.D. love to see you now?
