whispers
the tired creeps over me
unwanted, unbidden
slithering, whispering
of things best left hidden
it nibbles and gnaws and pulls my insides
curious, terrible:
and so full of lies
there are things we cannot, should not know
the future is too much a terrible blow
a strike and a push and a pull and a slap
so over our ears our shaking hands clap
block out the whispers; it’s better not to hear
i didn’t
i listened
and i disappeared.
