&ldquo; If you show someone something you&#039;ve written, you give them a sharpened stake, lie down in your coffin, and say, &lsquo; When you&rsquo;re ready&rsquo;.&rdquo; <br /> ― David Mitchell, Black Swan Green

Martyrdom with muscles
walked in two brown shoes,
dressed in paper robes,
carried plastic bags.
A machine of bones
against a hundred machines of war.

And somewhere beneath debris,
A tattered paper torch
is raised by a tattered paper hand.

Flames whisper into it's
folds.

Blood pumps through
China's veins,
searching for her heart underground.
