Fear :: Nightmare

Don’t look back.
That little shadow,
Shrinking from the light,
As you walk between
Your life.
Night falls,
It grows,
But still lagging behind.
While you walk-
Through your dreams this time,
Don’t be afraid,
Nothing’s really there,
But the little shadow,
Of course.
Until you choose to see it,
As you
Turn around, see-
The darkness snapping at your heels.
Cold fingers against your cheek,
An icy breath past your skin.
Your heart seized, still pounding.
Paralyzing.
So.
Don’t look back.
