addicted to breakdown
i am happier about the sky than i have been for days
apathetic god peering down
has finally let slip a few drops of angst gold
rumbling in a large silver stomach, like
a promise for salvation
bring the floods, bring the inundacions, they say,
the people of the red dirt earth
are parched
i want you to cup the potential energy in me with both
hands, and squeeze, squeeze, squeeze
until a drop of promise comes out
like the promises that always escape my mouth, empty,
robotic, in stock,
i disappoint you each time like a choking program, churning
mess of helical gears, and i wish,
i wasn't the villain
wish we could figure out some way to make me work
but it hurts too much to twist around and fix myself
and privately, out of the two of us, i think you
are the only one
who has not abandoned me yet.
