Not Cupidity

I am awoken by a loving thought and strong desire.
I grab my cloud light diaper and fasten the safety pin.
My tight curls bounce as I teeter over to my sac of love filled arrows.
My wings are now ready to fly.
Their job is easy with such a light hearted package.
The unsuspecting lovers light up the world so my job is just a simple shot.
The arrow is in my bow and then a thought crosses my mind before it strikes.
What about my thoughts and desires?
What happens after my uniform no longer fits?
Where is MY arrow? Where is my one true love?

Then I must move on to my next target without a word spoken.

The author's comments:
I am a senior at Deer Valley High school and am new to poetry. This is my first time submitting a piece of poetry. This is a dramatic monologue poem in the voice of Cupid. My inspiration for this poem was my love life, or lack there of. I have always introduced others to their soul mate, or encouraged others; "playing Cupid." I am tired of helping others but never finding love for myself. But maybe I am just being selfish.
