Ties to the Past
Memories are mine
 Remaining forever
 Never to change
 Written in stone
 Music brings me back
 Pictures, videos, more
 But objects... Gifts
 They cannot be replaced
 A jewelry box from grandma
 The gift on Christmas
The Chicago bag from my sister
 Returning from her trip
 The necklace from my mother
Broken but still in my room
 The necklace from the boy
 For a Christmas unforgettable
 These stay with me bolder
 If they were gone...
I’d lose the tie to a memory
 The little doll
 Poof gone
There goes the only one different
 Why can’t I let go?
Then again is it bad to hold on?
 I think not
 Objects are a quick tie
Like the red dress that started it all
 Or the orange stuffed crayon
 From a day with friends
 Everything is a tie
 To a date, time, moment
 Day or night
 Summer, winter, fall, or spring
It is something you can’t shake
 But why would you?
 Those moments are forever
 With many more to come
 So I hold them close
 Remembering the great times
Those days that made me happy.
