"A half read book is like a half finished love affair" - David Mitchell

Today was the day that I confessed.
Now I confess that I might be alive,

but I might not.
I confess that what I did, I partially deserved.

but I might not.
I confess that I hated myself,

but didn’t everyone?
I loved hating myself,

but didn’t everyone?
I confess that I lie,

but isn’t that a truth?
I confess that I don’t fear death,

I fear being missed.
I confess that I don’t fear heights,

I fear falling.
I don’t fear being gone,

I fear not being missed.
I don’t want to love,

because I don’t want to be rejected.
I don’t mind pain,

as long as it is for the sake of someone else.
I confess that I am a doormat,

and I let people walk over me.
I confess that I love people who love me,

they’re rare. A special breed.
I confess that I needed a savior,

and I clung to you.
I confess that I needed someone like you,

and you showed me how to be.
I confess I needed a push off the cliff of realism,

to splatter me on the ground and force me to awaken.
To open my eyes and see what I’ve done to myself,

To see my own reflection.
Today is the day I open myself to the violence of the words.
Today is the day I free myself from those that tie me to the ground
and let myself be raised and praised by those who care.
Today is the first day I be me.
Today is the last day I be a mirror.
Showing people what they want to see,
showing them everything, except for me.
Today is how you would say,
the end of the beginning and the start of the end.
Today is the last day.
Today is the day I confess everything,

I just might love you.

The author's comments:
I wrote this piece to explain the darkest crevices of my mind. It is like a tiny window into how I see and think about everything. It is raw and honest. It is exactly how I would say everything. I wrote it in a form of a conversation with myself. I'm asking me questions. I'm giving me answers. I'm helping myself.
