Internal Wars
Daggers and blades stab at my soul,
Bombs and grenades sound off in my head,
Firearms of mass destruction shoot at my heart,
This war never ends inside of me.
My eyes have grown forever heavy,
A soldier of Love’s infantry, I am,
So worn from the miles embedded in my soles,
This battle takes its tole on my outside.
No good at allowing him to hold me at night,
Flinching every time his arms wrap around my waste,
Flashbacks of every terrible endeavor play,
This internal struggle never seems to end.
