Catch a Falling Star

A small, small child
Standing on the mountain
Looking up at the clear, black sky
Trying to keep on counting.
Then she sees it
Streaking through the skies
Preparing for the hot blaze
Thoughts of her possible demise.
Standing near the top
The hiss and hums
Sticking out her pink tongue
Shooting star, here it comes.
Catching the falling star
Standing on the mountain
The surprised feeling it gave
No longer staring and counting.
