Weathered and Young
his hands are weathered and gashed, but strong.
he stokes the fire, almost carelessly, tossing in the pieces of wood, feeding the stove,
the wood stove is a needed danger, for the man is almost always slipping, further
gashing his hands, because of his zest for routine and for warmth.
“you tell me you feel the fresh aches your aged body gives you, so why do you not take
better care?”
“i feel my aches belatedly” is his stubborn and oblivious reply, and i know he is still
young in heart and mind
