blank page
reflecting the vacant look
in your eyes

emotion is long gone
along with the glimmer
often found in your glance

always tired
no matter how much sleep you get
bags under eyes

that’s just how it is
there’s no changing it
just accept it

the same thing happens
every day.
get up, school, sleep

you get weary of life
and its boring schedule
but it goes on

that’s what they say;
it goes on
it gets better

it’s just a phase,
right?
Yeah, it’s just a phase.

just like the bags
under your eyes will fade
so will the memories of this place

and one day you may remember
ten years later
how you felt those days

you may think ‘wow’
I got through that
but they will only be small remnants

you won’t fully remember
those days you stayed up til midnight
wishing you hadn’t

you may still have
that feeling of anxiety
rising up in your chest

just for different reasons
because everything will be different

time has passed

you are afraid now
that this phase won’t pass
these feelings will linger

but you are more afraid
that when this phase lapses
everything will be even worse

but it’s just a phase,
right?
Yeah, it’s just a phase.

you don’t realize until too late
these phases return again in cycle
like the moon

Every high school student has felt that feeling of despair, that life is just a sequence of events being repeated again and again. I get it, and that's what this piece is about.
