Intuitive One Night Stand
all she wanted
was for someone to come up to her and say
“i see the way your eyes grow sad
when you turn to look away

i’ve noticed how your smile falters
how your laugh sounds hollow and your fingers tremble
and i won’t promise to stick around forever
but i can promise to press my lips to yours
and hold you so close you won’t have the space
to think of all the demons you exhale with every sigh
and i’ll remove each dagger you say has torn up your chest
so that at least for tonight
you can pretend that you are healed again.”
