A New Dawn
They tear my stem,
The only thing attaching me to my roots
 I am now a stranger,
To that dark shadowy place that was once my protection for 9 months
 I am now a foreigner,
To this new world that receives me
Blurry figures tower me as my eyes bathe in tears
 I am not alone
I stare at my vast surroundings filled with inky shadows,
Away from that shady haven that was only mine
My skin is replaced with another,
A shield against the harsh realities of the cold, cold world
 I am now weak,
The caterpillar was safer in its cocoon
 I am home
Realizing that the sanctuary was in my mother’s arms
 My sanctuary is extinct
