Grass to Glass
I run through the flourishing field
Blades of cool grass piercing through my toes
With every step I take
Morning dew grasps my feet
Like a child’s fragile arms clinging to his mother’s neck
Never to let go
My cares have left me
Miles ago, miles ago
No worries ahead of me
Just rolling hills of verdant grass
Ouch!
A throbbing pang of pain in my foot
I drop to the wet ground
My sight drops to my foot
A crumpled little bee
Still attached to the point of entry
I stare at the blue sky
And shake my head in disbelief
I would be the one
The one who would step on a bee
I try to stand on my foot
And begin to limp on slippery shards of glass
Heading back home
Miles to go, miles to go
