Sea Shells
I could compare you to the ocean if I wanted
how your waves of disappointment broke onto my barren shores
and the way I slowly stepped in before losing myself in your tides

If you are the ocean then I am a boat docked at harbor
in need of a captain brave enough to maneuver your waves

But I won’t compare you to the ocean because
the ocean is dark and dangerous and you are not
and I know that if I confess my regrets into one of your shells
it’s too late for you to hear me,
 I’ve already drowned.
