I look around me
And I wonder why humans think the way they do
I see blonde heads
Brown heads
Red heads
And more
I see brown skin
Tanned skin
Pale skin
And more
Yet humans stubbornly
And foolishly
Continue to think that it’s the outside that matters
That the color on skin
Hair
Or religion
Is what dictates a person
Makes them better or worse than another
Even after we have gone through twelve years of history class
Each class teaching our past mistakes
That humans are based off of the outside appearances
We still foolishly follow the mistakes of the past
Our footprints matching theirs
Instead of learning from our mistakes
Because really, what are brains and reason for?
I see similarity
I don’t see higher or lower
I see equality
Two of my best friends chat across from me
Each of their appearances different from mine
Their tanned, dark skin is a stark difference
To my pale, white skin
Their brunette hair
Compared to my red hair
Yet I see them
As an equal to me
I don’t view myself higher
Or lower than them
But equal
I respect their difference in culture
Or religion
Because it does not harm others
But it does not harm others
But it helps humans grow
Humans have got to learn from our mistakes
Or else we will be fighting for our survival
Not form nature
Bur from our own kind
Humans have the potential
To flower
To grow
To mature
So what are we waiting for?
