Snow Drops

Overnight,
Softly, silently
We float
Like petals in the wind.
Globes of lace
That prick the tongue,
We settle on
Splintering grass
One
By
One.
Perfectly voiceless,
Boreal glass,
We creep –
Smother the earth
While you
Sleep.

It snowed early in March of 2013. As I watched the snow come down as I shoveled, I was inspired to write this poem.
