Surprise
This day began a mystery for me, the weekend of my 8th birthday, with nothing going on.
My grandparents called me and invited me to go out to eat.
"OF COURSE!" I screamed over the phone.
"Okay we'll go to anywhere you want for your birthday so be ready."
Thirty minutes later ..
They arrive and I flew out the door before they could even blow there horn. This was the start of a wonderful day for me. When we arrived to the Golden Corral I ate more than a bear, stuffing my face as if I was a squirrel. Sitting at the table with my grandparents, I began to feel as if the day couldn't get any better than this. Leaving the restaurant we headed to my aunt's house to see my new born cousin.
As we arrived they told me to see if anyone was home while they parked the car. I knocked on the door with no answer. I yelled to my grandparents,
"No one's here!"
"You stay here I'm going to the front to see if I can get an answer," my grandfather commanded.
As I go to knock on the door it opens and my aunt was there to greet me. I informed her about my grandparents being at the door and she asked me if i could go open the door for them. Walking in the house it was dark as night and I assumed they were sleeping. At eight years old being scared of the dark I hurried back to the light and told her no one was there.
"Check again" she commanded.
Nervously uttering, "Ok"
As I walk through the dining room, the light turns on and everyone screams
"Surprise!"
I fell to the floor shocked! My cousins and other relatives jump on me yelling "Happy Birthday!" This turned out to be one of the best day I ever had.
